Biography

She was born in the family of an outstanding actor Mikhail Ivanovich Tsarev [1] .

In 1955 she graduated from the Musical College at the Moscow Conservatory in piano class O. F. Mukhortova. Prior to that, she studied at the Children's Music School at the School of piano class M. Ya. Siver.

In 1960, she graduated from the theoretical-composer and piano faculties of the Moscow Conservatory; P. I. Tchaikovsky. Teachers: A. A. Egorov and L. M. Levinson (piano), R. I. Gruber, N. S. Nikolayeva (supervisor of the thesis and PhD thesis), I. V. Nestyev, Yu. V. Keldysh, A.I. Kandinsky (music history), V.O. Berkov, S.S. Skrebkov (harmony), V.V. Protopopov (polyphony), L.A. Mazel (analysis of musical works), I. A. Barsova (reading scores), Yu. A. Fortunatov (instrumentation). At the same time, Ekaterina Mikhailovna began teaching activities (music literature) at the Academic Music School at the Moscow Conservatory , where she also heads the cyclic commission.

In 1963 she graduated from the graduate school of the Moscow Conservatory of them. P.I. Tchaikovsky

Since 1964 he has been teaching at the Department of the History of Foreign Music of the Moscow Conservatory (since 1992 - Professor).

In 1973 she defended her thesis on the topic: "Brahms' Piano Works".
