Biography

Friedrich Kalkbrenner was born on November 7, 1784 in a carriage , on the way from Kassel to Berlin . He received his first lessons from his father. In 1798 he entered the Paris Conservatory, where he studied under Louis Adan . [7]

Tours in Germany , England , France brought him great fame.

In 1814-1823 he gave concerts and taught in London , then returned to France. In 1824, he founded a piano factory with Playel , which soon gained worldwide fame.

In Paris, he kept his own piano school, which was very popular, but rather, among lay musicians. Frederick Chopin collaborated with Kalkbrenner, who played with him four hands, but refused to take an assistant position at his school; as a result, Kamil Stamati , later also a very famous teacher, became Kalkbrenner’s assistant.

Numerous compositions by Kalkbrenner: concerts , rondos , fantasies , trios for piano with strings, duets for piano and violin, sonatas for piano - were very successful. However, his piano course and exercises for him had even greater response.

Friedrich Wilhelm Michael Kalkbrenner died on June 10, 1849 as a result of a cholera disease, which he probably treated on his own. He was buried in the city of Paris at the Montmartre cemetery .
