Biography
Received a military education.
In 1937, he joined the Chinese Communist Party. Member of the national liberation war against the Japanese invaders (1937-1945), as well as the Civil War (1945-1949).
- 1945 - First Deputy Commander of the North-Eastern People's Liberation Army,
- 1946 - General Director of the North-Eastern Directorate of Railways,
- 1949-1965 - Deputy Minister of Railways of China.
In 1955, after the reinstatement of general posts, he was one of the first to receive this military rank.
In 1965-1970 - Minister of Railways of China.
At the 12th Congress of the CCP, he was elected to the All-China Committee of the People’s Political Consultative Council, and was its deputy chairman (1983-1988).
Also known for the fact that in 1985, to save an endangered species ( David's deer ), he helped found the China Milu Foundation, a special fund that subsequently played a big role in the struggle to preserve biodiversity.
At the time of death at the age of 104, was the last surviving first generals of the People's Liberation Army.
