The Kilia Girlo is the northernmost, most humid arm of the Danube Delta . About 70% of the total river flow passes through the Chilia Arm. The length is 116 km, the width is from 0.6 to 1.2 km. In the lower part, the Kiliya arm is divided into 25 main and several dozen secondary arms and ducts. Spring-summer flood, low-flow autumn. Wind surge of water to Ishmael .

The ports of Izmail , Kiliya , Vilkovo ( Ukraine ) are located on the Kiliya arm. The channel is raked to protect agricultural land from flooding during floods. Since 2007, it has been part of the deep-water navigable course of the Ukrainian channel Danube-Black Sea [2] . A section of the state border between Ukraine and Romania passes along the Kiliya Arm.
The Byzantine Greeks called him Likostomon [Greek Λ.Λυκοστομον], which translates to the Wolf mouth.
