La Trobe University is a public higher education institution located in Melbourne , Victoria , Australia . Campuses in the cities of Bendigo , Wadong , Mildura , Shepparton . Named in honor of the English writer, climber, First Lieutenant Governor of Victoria Charles La Trobe (Latrobe) .

It was founded in 1967 in accordance with the decree of the Parliament of the State of Victoria. He became the third university in Victoria and the twelfth university in Australia. In 2015, ranked among the top 100 universities in the last 50 years according to the Times Higher Education World University Rankings [1]
In 2015, 36,278 students studied at the university and more than 5,000 teachers and staff worked.
The motto of the university is “Qui cherche trouve” , translated from French, “He who seeks will find.”
