Scientific interests
  • mechanisms of innate immunity
  • physiology of cytokines
  • mouse genetic knockout and mouse models of human disease
  • cancer antigens

S. A. Nedospasov made a major contribution to the development of domestic molecular biology, immunology and biomedicine. He and his school carried out pioneering work on the biology of cytokines, created unique animal models of human diseases, investigated the mechanisms of the pathogenesis of a number of diseases at the molecular level, developed new approaches to biotherapy, including the creation of prototypes of new drugs. S. A. Nedospasov published more than 200 articles, including in leading international journals (Science, Nature, Immunity, Blood, etc.). In the 80s, S. A. Nedospasov and colleagues were the first to molecularly clone the genes of cytokines of the family of tumor necrosis factor (TNF), which are mediators of immune processes. Based on these molecular clones, strains producing cytokines, including TNF and human lymphotoxin, were created in our country, and then a panel of monoclonal antibodies that neutralize their activity. S. A. Nedospasov and co-workers created a unique panel of mouse lines with controlled shutdown of the TNF, lymphotoxin and other mediators genes important for the development of the immune system. In these animals, it became possible to simulate various human diseases - from autoimmune and infectious to oncological, to study the relationship of microbiota with inflammation, and also to develop methods of biotherapy [4] .
