History

The village of Volozhba is mentioned on the map of Novgorod governorship of 1792 by A. M. Wilbrecht [2] .

The village of Volozhba is indicated on a special map of the western part of Russia by F. F. Schubert in 1844 [3] .

Peasant households - 43. Buildings - 122, including residential - 57. Forge and water mill.
The number of inhabitants according to the family lists of 1879: 131 m. P.; according to the parish records of 1879: 118 m. paragraph [4] .

In the late XIX - early XX centuries, the village administratively belonged to the Kostrinsky volost of the 3rd zemsky section of the 1st camp of the Tikhvin district of the Novgorod province .

According to the map of the Petrograd and Novgorod provinces of 1913, the village of Kostrina totaled 30 yards [6] .

From 1917 to 1918, the village of Volozhba was part of the Kostrino volost of the Tikhvin district of the Novgorod province.

Since 1918, as part of the Cherepovets province .

Since 1924, as part of the Suburban Volost.

Since 1927, as part of the Plesovsky village council of the Tikhvin region.

Since 1928, as part of the Volozhbensky Village Council. In 1928, the population of the village of Volozhba was 326 people [7] .

According to 1933, the village of Volozhba was the administrative center of the Volozhbensky village council of the Tikhvin region, which included 4 settlements: the villages of Volozhba , Gorodishche, Zhilotok, Plesso, with a total population of 952 people [8] .

According to 1936, the Volozhbensky Village Council included 5 settlements, 174 farms and 4 collective farms [9] .

In 2007, 11 people lived in the village of Volozhba of the Melegezhsky joint venture , in 2010 - 18 [15] [16] .

Geography

The village is located in the southwestern part of the region east of the highway 41K-167 ( Tikhvin - Zaruchevye ).

The distance to the administrative center of the settlement is 15 km [15] .

The distance to the nearest railway station is Tikhvin - 18 km [10] .

The village is located on the right bank of the Volozhba River, Kobyl stream flows east of the village.
