Leather bat (1) ( Latin Hypsugo savii ) is a type of bat from the genus Leather bat ( Latin Hypsugo ). The specific Latin name is given in honor of the Italian zoologist Paolo Savi (1798–1871) [2] .

Area
Widely distributed in the Palaearctic : in Southern Europe, North Africa, the Caucasus and the Middle East , in Central Asia and northern India. It occurs at altitudes up to 3000 meters above sea level [3] .
The Canary Islands is the most common type of bat [3] .
Security Status
In the “Red List of Threatened Species”, the leather-like bat is assigned the status of the least threat LC ( eng. Least Concern ). Also, the species is protected under the Bonn Convention on the territory of European countries that have ratified EUROBATS and is listed in Directive 92/43 / EEC "On the Protection of Natural Habitats and Wild Fauna" [3] . Listed in the Red Book of Ukraine [4] .
