List of Soviet missile defense systems development programs

Below is a list of integrated missile defense systems development programs in the USSR , indicating programs, projects and research areas (topics) developed as part of these integrated programs. Not all of the programs listed below envisaged the creation of anti-ballistic weapons, many of them were programs in the field of rocket and space technology and radio engineering, strength and resistance of materials, their resistance to the use of weapons of mass destruction by the adversary and other aggressive environmental factors (corrosion of metal parts , erosive soils in the area of construction of stationary defense systems), and other areas of scientific knowledge, however, they are designed for the needs of a missile defense sludge for specific projected or put into service a missile defense system. Given the fact that the vast majority of research projects in the development of new and modernization of existing weapons systems and the fight against them (protection against it) are carried out in accordance with the requirements of regulatory legal acts on the protection of state secrets , the materials and documentation on them are kept in secret paperwork and are not subject to disclosure, a significant number of projects are still kept secret. Hence, the scarcity of information about each specific project and program. The difficulty in collecting and processing information on Soviet missile defense systems development programs lies in the fact that in Soviet times, these programs and their development could take place under other encrypted names, ciphers could change due to various circumstances, etc.

D-20 (WIS-48)

The comprehensive program D-20 (ISV-48) provided for development in the field of the creation of ground-based missile defense systems - zone and all-Union, as well as auxiliary tactical systems and complexes for covering troops. The total number of research and development (R&D), research and experimental (R&D), development work (R&D) and basic research (FI) planned for the implementation of the D-20 and SK-1000 programs is 289.

RP-412

Comprehensive program RP-412

SK-1000

The SK-1000 comprehensive program (“Multipurpose Combat Space System”) provided for the development of missile defense systems with space-based elements, as well as new missile systems capable of overcoming the enemy’s missile defense (USA and NATO).

SP-2000

Comprehensive program SP-2000

Terra

Terra's comprehensive program included the development and research in the field of the development of combat lasers and their combat use, by creating laser weapon systems: stationary (high power) and mobile, including with the installation of existing or under development military equipment: aviation and armored vehicles. The main area of work: The creation of laser-based weapons for the needs of the country's missile defense.
