History
The VLNY project was created in December 2013 by Samara musician Dmitry Artemyev.
On January 29, 2014, Dima released his debut album with copyright songs “Revelations”, which was characterized as high-quality pop music with elements of dream pop and retro futurism [1] .
In March of the same year, Dima received an invitation to speak at the Samara youth city festival from the organizer of the holiday, Pavel Yarov (in 2015 he became the group manager), the only condition was: to act as a full-time team. Dima gave his consent, the VLNY group was formed. The first concert was held at the Samara Youth Day celebration, where the guys warmed up the Comedoz group. VLNY also played their second concert on the Samara Embankment, at the START Festival in September, where they became headlining.
On December 13, 2014, the group gave their first recital at the Zvezda club in Samara. A couple of days later, VLNY won their first Silver Goat Award from the Samara magazine Big Village in the Music of the Year nomination. In 2015, the group repeated its success, and for the second time won the award.
The Revelations album was included in the 30 best albums of the year according to the Internet project One Age [2] .
On March 31, 2015, the second full-length album “Remember” was released. The release took place on the independent label "Astra" [3] .
In the summer of 2015, the group went on concerts three times to the festival clearing of the Mastryukov Lakes: iVolga Youth Forum, HESFest and Metafest . At the end of summer, the Samara went on their first mini-tour, where they visited St. Petersburg, Moscow, Kazan, Tolyatti and Ulyanovsk. The tour ended with a performance at the Pearl on the Volga festival of embankments in Samara.
On November 13, 2015, the group took 1st place and the audience’s prize at the New Movement Eurasian music competition in Orenburg.
Commentary by jury chairman Kim Breitburg:
“Regarding the song“ There is no more attraction ”. I can only say that the name is familiar ... I liked the song itself. The performance was also pleasant. I think very good vocals, good arrangement, the song sounds great. In my opinion, a talented guy who sings and composed this song. In general, everything has been done quite qualitatively and aesthetically. ”
After the victory, VLNY went on their second mini-tour, which was named after the single “Dancing in the Dark”. Concerts were held from November 28 to December 19, 2015. As part of the tour, the VLNY group visited the cities of Yekaterinburg (Club of the House of Seals), Chelyabinsk (Club Culture), Nizhny Novgorod (Art Cafe B / U), Samara (Club Zvezda), Kazan (Club " BioPort "), St. Petersburg (" Exchange Bar ") and Moscow (" Mumiy Troll Music Bar "). This tour gave birth to the tradition of filming a video of the group’s adventure, the project was named VLNY TV.
On March 20, 2016, VLNY performed at the opening act of Ivan Dorn in Chelyabinsk .
In September 2016, the indie label Kometa Music released a mini-album of the group “Sad Dances” [4] . Through crowdfunding, an attempt to raise funds for a full-length album was unsuccessful. The album debuted in iTunes at number 2 on the alternative music chart [5] . He was later nominated for the Silver Goat Award under the heading “Music of the Year”.
In November 2016, the band released its first music video for the song “Inhale” [6] .
In October 2017, the group's third album, “Closer”, was released.
In October 2018, the fourth album, entitled "Waves", was released.
