Biography
He graduated from high school in Erfurt, then studied theology in Halle . In 1825, he passed the exam in Magdeburg and obtained the place of priest in Ritgene . In 1831 he was transferred to a more profitable parish in Tunzenhausen.
Published a number of works on numismatics. In 1834 he founded the first German numismatic magazine "Numismatische Zeitung". He owned a large collection of coins (more than 23 000). After his death, his collection in 1880 was sold at the Leipzig auction and subsequently resold several times.
