Visa policy of Bhutan - the rules for obtaining a visa by foreigners visiting the Kingdom of Bhutan
The Government of Bhutan, in order to preserve the country's unique culture, lifestyle and environment, pursues a policy of "high value and low impact of tourism" ( English High Value, Low Impact Tourism ), thereby opposing mass tourism. Bhutan guarantees that at any time a country can be visited by a number of tourists who will not overload its tourism opportunities by setting for all foreigners (except citizens of India , Bangladesh and the Maldives ) the high cost of a visa, which costs $ 250 per day in a high season ( March, April, May and September, October, November) and $ 200 in the low season (December, January, February and June, July, August). [1] There are discounts for underage children and large groups, while there is an extra charge for groups of three or less. [2] At the same time, the indicated money includes accommodation, meals and a guide accompanied by a tour operator booked by Bhutan. You cannot refuse a guide (independent tourism is prohibited), the maximum stay in the country is limited to 15 days. The exceptions are officially invited persons (guests of the Bhutan government) and volunteer organizations.
Citizens of Bangladesh, India and the Maldives do not need a visa and reservation by a licensed tour operator, provided that they have a passport valid for at least six months from the date of entry. Indian citizens can also use to enter Bhutan. For residents of India who do not have any of these two documents, you can get an “Identification Slip” at the office of the Indian Consulate in Phuncholing (the only AH48 highway connecting India and Bhutan runs in the city), provided that they can provide evidence of Indian citizenship. Holders of diplomatic passports, Switzerland and Thailand , do not need a visa, while the period of stay in the country should not exceed 90 days.
