Story
The life of Spider-Man is far from ideal - every day he saves the lives of New Yorkers , while the life of the ordinary Peter Parker is becoming more complicated. He is fired from the pizzeria, where he worked as a courier, he almost loses his job at The Daily Bugle due to the lack of pictures of Spider-Man, he studies physics and is constantly late for classes at the university, quarrels with his girlfriend Mary Jane Watson .
She confesses to him that she is going to marry the astronaut John - the son of the editor-in-chief of the Daily Bugle, Jay Jonah Jameson . Aunt May faces eviction for tax evasion, and after an unsuccessful experiment sponsored by Peter’s best friend, Harry Osborne , a new threat appears in front of the residents of the metropolis - the brilliant and respected scientist Otto Octavius becomes a super-villain Dr. Octopus , who dreams of re-conducting his extremely dangerous experiment with tritium at all costs.
Once Peter notices that for some reason his super-abilities began to disappear and he decides to tie up with a super-hero’s career, throws out his suit (which falls into Jameson’s Daily Bugle) and successfully returns to normal life: solves problems with his studies, builds relationships with Mary Jane, despite her upcoming wedding. But, seeing the increasing calamities and crimes, Peter realizes that the city needs Spider-Man. Meanwhile, Dr. Octopus is making a deal with Harry - in exchange for Spider-Man, whom Osborn wants to avenge his father’s death, he will give him tritium - an element necessary for the experiment. Harry explains to him that Parker is familiar with Spider-Man and it is necessary to look for him through Peter. The madman takes hostage Mary Jane and leaves, saying that he will wait for Spider-Man. In a fit of anger, Peter notices that super powers are returning to him again. He steals his costume from the Daily Bugle and sets off to meet the Octopus.
During the fight with the doctor, he has to stop the train, where he faints from overvoltage and strong traction using the web as brakes. Taking advantage of this, the Octopus grabs it, carries it back to Osbourne and, having received tritium, leaves. Tearing off the mask from Spider-Man and seeing who is hiding under it, Harry is horrified. He lets go of Parker and talks about the whereabouts of the Octopus laboratory. Peter goes there and after a long fight with a villain reveals himself. He tells the Octopus that sometimes you need to give up the dream, because as a result of the experiment, half of New York will be destroyed. The octopus destroys the installation and drowns it in the river with it. Peter frees Mary Jane and puts her in the hands of a frightened John. Harry discovers his father’s secret laboratory in the house and, learning the truth about the Green Goblin , begins to prepare for revenge on Spider-Man. Mary Jane escapes from the wedding and confesses to Peter that he loves only him.
After that, Parker puts on Spider-Man’s costume and goes to his work - the fight against crime, and Mary Jane sadly looks after him from the window.

Preparation
At the stage of preparing the film, a free three-dimensional graphics package Blender was used to create storyboards and pre-visualization [3] .
Filming of "Spider-Man 2" went on more than 100 sites, including on the loop overpass transport of Chicago (within two days, November 2002). The film crew acquired a train with 2200 type cars in and placed 16 cameras with which the battle was shot between Spider-Man and Dr. Octopus. The main filming began on April 12, 2003 in New York, on May 13, the film crew went to filming in Los Angeles, where they filmed at 10 sites, the scenery for which was prepared by Ni Spissak. Despite fears about back pain, most of the tricks were independently performed by Toby Maguire and even beat this moment: in the scene, when Spider-Man tried to regain his strength, he said "My back, my back!". Rosemary Harris also performed some of the tricks, reducing her stuntman's work even further. But Alfred Molina jokingly said that stuntmen can drag him into the shooting of stunt scenes.
Filming was suspended for 8 weeks while the pier was being built, where the battle was unfolding between Octopus and Spider over a nuclear installation. Listak proposed using the image of a dilapidated pier as Octavius' den, to show not only the consequences of a laboratory explosion, but also how the doctor’s life was disfigured - he was inspired by the work of Fritz Lang and the film “ Doctor Caligari's Study ” [4] . Filming was resumed later: it took about 15 weeks to build a full-blown pier, and 30 Sony Studios pavilion was rented for filming. The length of the structure was 37 m, width 18 m, height 12 m. A miniature 4 times smaller was built for the scene of the destruction of the pier, and filming continued after Christmas [5] .
The Spydercam system was used to capture the view on behalf of Spider-Man: at the height of a 50-story building, it was possible to cover open spaces of 730 meters in New York or 980 meters in Los Angeles. In some cases, shooting was at a speed of 6 frames per second for faster playback. Filming with Spyderam was pre-planned and coordinated with a digital image of cities, and camera movement was coordinated with a motion control system, which made the entire technology cost-effective. Such technology was only in the first film of the trilogy and only in the last scene.

Initially, the role of Doctor Octopus was to play actor Sam Nill [6] [7] .
