Bezovec (mountain, Slovakia)

Bezovec ( Slovak. Bezovec [1] , 742.8 m above sea level [2] ) is a mountain in the Povazzski Inovec massif (western Slovakia, Trenčín Region, Nove Mesto nad Wagom district ). In the vicinity of the mountain there are recreation places of the same name and a ski center. Due to its good view, the mountain is an attractive tourist attraction.

Description

Bezovets is the highest mountain of the mountain subunit Low Inovec (which is part of the Povazhsky Inovec massif), located in the central part of the Povazhsky Inovec, on the cadastral territory of the village of Nova-Legota. The distance from the city of Piestany is 20 km, from the city of Nove Mesto nad Wagom is approximately 30 km.

It is composed of Jurassic and Lower Cretaceous rocks of the Zlekhov period of the Knizhnansky cover, in which marls and limestones prevail. The mountain is covered mainly by beech forest, in the upper part of the mountain there are scree forests where maple grows. A rare plant, high barley , grows here.

Tourism and sport

From the top, a view of the ridge of the White Carpathians , the Povazhye, Tribec and Ponitrier opens. There are accommodation and meals.

Good conditions for skiing as well as cross-country skiing. The ski slopes are equipped with snowmaking and night lighting systems.

A new mountain bike park in summer is under construction.

Bezovec is the starting point for excursions to the ruins of Tematin Castle (3.5 km), to Topolchansky Castle (5.5 km) and to the mineral spring Dastinskaya Kiselka (3.5 km).

In honor of Mount Bezovec, the small planet "1963 Bezovec" is named.
