History
The Cross of Freedom was established by the Decree of King of Norway Haakon VII on May 18, 1945, together with another award, the Medal of Liberty of King Haakon VII .
The cross was awarded for outstanding service in wartime by Norwegian and allied military personnel and non-military civilians.
Description
The sign is a silver eight-pointed cross of white enamel.
In the center of the cross on the round medallion of the red enamel is the crowned monogram of Haakon VII, superimposed on the letter "V" (victory - victory).
On the reverse there is an inscription in the central medallion: “ALT FOR NORGE” (All for Norway), below - “June 7, 1945” (June 7, 1945 is the date of return of King Haakon VII to Norway after five years of exile).
The cross with the aid of a transitional link in the form of a developing ribbon is attached to a dark-blue silk moire ribbon in two white stripes lagging behind the edge.
For everyday wear there is a cross symbol - a strap covered with a ribbon of a cross with a metal overlay in the form of a royal monogram.
