Macuxitermes (Latin) is a genus of termites from the subfamily Syntermitinae [1] [2] .

Description
Small termites, the length of soldiers less than 1 cm. The soldiers are dimorphic. The lateral edges of the pronotum, mesonotum, and metanotum are dentate (in close genera, these edges are smooth). The head capsule is round, with 2 anterolateral protrusions (in a similar genus of Armitermes, the head has no protrusions) [3] . The head of a soldier is distinguished by a long nose-tubule (fountainanella), which serves to spray chemical substances that frighten off enemies ( ants and other predators). The hoards of soldiers are developed, functioning. Labrum wider than its length. The mandibles of the imago are similar to the mandibles of workers: the apical tooth of the left jaw is shorter than the posterior edge of the merged 1st – 2nd marginal teeth. Formula spurs workers and soldiers shins: 2-2-2. The antennae of the workers and soldiers are 14-15-segmented [1] [3] [4] .
Systematics
The genus was first identified in 1992 according to the type species described from Brazil [5] [3] [4] .
