Martin Broszat ( German: Martin Broszat ; August 14, 1926 , Leipzig - October 14, 1989 , Munich ) is a German historian. The main area of Brossat's research is the social history of the Third Reich and the history of anti-Semitism in Germany.

Biography
Martin Brosstat, the son of a postal inspector, studied at the Queen Carola Leipzig Gymnasium in 1937-1944. He joined the Hitler Youth and the NSDAP . In 1946 he entered the University of Leipzig , where he studied history, German studies and philosophy, in 1949 he continued his education at the University of Cologne . In 1952 he defended his thesis for the doctoral degree on the topic "Anti-Semitic Movement in Wilhelm Germany ."
In 1955, he joined the Munich Institute of Contemporary History as a research fellow. Since 1960, he has been the editor of Vierteljahrshefte für Zeitgeschichte . In 1972 he headed the Institute, which he directed until his death.
Martin Brossat was an honorary and visiting professor at the Universities of Constance , Munich and Oxford .
