History
In the Podillia, Kalinowski became known from the middle of the XVI century, when the brothers Krishtof, Jan and Martin acquired estates near Kamianets. The youngest of them, Martin, "the grandfather of the Nefedovtsev and Gumintsev," became the founder of the hetman line of the Kalinowski. Soon the Kalinowski appear in the Bratslav region. From 1590-1596, Martin Kalinovsky became the owner of significant territories on the left coast of the Dniester, becoming the largest landowner in the Eastern Podillia. His son, Valentin Alexander, in 1604 received the post of headman of Vinnitsa and Bratslav.
Famous members of the clan
- Valentin Alexander Kalinovsky (? -1620) - general of Podolsk land and the elder of Bratslavsky and Vinnitsa , killed in battle with the Turks of the Battle of Tsetsora in 1620 .
- Martyn Kalinovsky (1605–1652) is the Chernihiv governor and the crown hetman. He died in battle with the Cossacks of Bogdan Khmelnitsky at Batog (1652).
- Rafail Kalinovsky (1835-1907) - engineer, rebel, teacher, monk of the Order of the Barefoot Carmelites , guardian of officers and soldiers, the Holy Catholic Church, is revered as an intercessor in difficult and hopeless situations.
- Viktoria Konstantin Kalinovsky (1838-1864) - the national hero of Belarus , one of the leaders of the uprising of 1863 .
The Kalinowski clan was divided into 13 branches, included in the 1st and 4th part of the genealogy book of the Vilna , Grodno , Vitebsk , Volyn , Koven , Minsk , Mogilev and Podolsk provinces [1] and on the lists of the nobility of the Kingdom of Poland . The coat of arms of Kalinov (used by the Kalinowski family) is included in Part 3 of the Stamp of the noble family of the Kingdom of Poland, p. 16.
In addition, there is another Polish and six Russian Kalinovsky clans of a later origin.
