Biography
Born December 17 (30), 1901 in the village of Lomenka, Smolensk province, in a peasant family.
In 1917 he graduated from Klimovskoe (Klimov-zavodskoy) higher elementary school.
In 1921-1923 he served in the Red Army. Then until 1929 he studied at the biology department of Moscow State University, specializing in organic chemistry. Pupil N. Zelinsky and A. Chichibabin.
In 1929-1932, a researcher at the Institute for Fertilizers of the Supreme Economic Council, then until April 1936, a scientific specialist at the All-Union Institute of Fertilizers, Agrotechnics and Soil Science (future VIUA). At the same time he taught at the TSAA at the Department of Physical and Colloidal Chemistry.
In March 1936, he was awarded the degree of candidate of chemical sciences and the title of senior research fellow.
Since 1935, a senior researcher at the Dokuchaev Soil Institute. Since 1948, the head. Laboratory of Soil Chemistry, Institute of Soil Science.
Doctor of Geological and Mineralogical Sciences (1946), Professor (1948).
He died suddenly on August 12, 1960.
The 1948 Stalin Prize - for the scientific work “On the Nature of Soil Acidity” (1947).
He was awarded the Order of the Red Banner of Labor (1953).
