History

In 1278, Act-Pareage was signed between Count Foix and Bishop of Urhelsky , according to which they shared power in the valley. In 1479, Count Francis Phoebe de Foix became king of Navarra and thus the overlord rights of Count Foix to Andorra pass to the Navarre crown. After the king of Navarre ascended the throne of France under the name of Henry IV in 1589, these rights were transferred to the French crown in the same way. Formally, they are still preserved by the French state, now the president of the French Republic is considered the nominal prince-co-ruler of Andorra. At present, friendly relations have been established between the countries. In recent years, several high-level visits have been made.

Economic Relations

In 2013, France accounted for about 15% of Andorra's imports (against 27% in 2000). On September 21, 2009, an agreement on the exchange of information on tax issues was signed between the countries, which entered into force on December 22, 2010.
