Stalin José Rivas ( Spanish: Stalin José Rivas ; born August 5, 1971 in Puerto Ordaz , Venezuela ) is a former Venezuelan footballer , a midfielder known for playing for Caracas and the Venezuelan national team . In 2006, he began his coaching career.

Club career

Rivas began his career at the Mineros Guayana club, for which he debuted at the age of 16. A season later, he became the team’s main football player and helped her win the Venezuelan championship . In 1991, Stalin moved to the Liege Standard . On May 24, 1992, in his match against Liers , he made his debut in the Jupe League . In the same year, in search of gaming practice, Rivas on a leasehold moved to Bom . In 1993, he left Belgium and returned to his homeland, becoming a player at Minervén Bolívar . In 1994, Stalin with seven balls became the top scorer of the Libertadores Cup . The successes of Rivas did not go unnoticed, and in the same year he moved to the more eminent “ Caracas ”. In 1995, Stalin was recognized as the footballer of the year in Venezuela. In 1997, he became the country's champion for the second time.

In 2000, Rivas moved to the Colombian Millionarios , but without really playing, he returned to Venezuela. For several seasons, he played with little success for Deportivo Galicia and Petare . In 2002, Stalin joined the Caracas for the second time. As part of the capital's club, he twice became the champion of the country. Two years later, Rivas left the team and played for Deportivo Italmarakaibo and Deportivo Tachira . In 2006, he completed his career at his home club, Mineros Guayana.

After the player’s career ended, Stalin became a coach and led the clubs “ Deportivo Lara ”, “ Deportivo Ansoategui ” and “Mineros Guayana”.

International Career

On May 18, 1989, in a friendly match against Peru, Rivas made his debut for the Venezuelan national team . On June 25, in a duel against the national team of Peru, he scored his first goal for the national team . During his career, Stalin played four times at the America's Cup.
