Louisville Orchestra

Louisville Orchestra is a symphony orchestra based in the city of Louisville ( Kentucky , USA ).

It was founded in 1937 by conductor Robert Whitney , who led the team for 30 years and laid the foundation for his strong reputation. In 1967 , Whitney was replaced by the young conductor Jorge Mester , under whose leadership the fame of the Louisville Orchestra as a group promoting the music of the 20th century was strengthened: with Mester led the orchestra made more than 70 recordings of such composers as Dallapikkola , Charles Koechlin , Shostakovich , Penderetsky and others. Subsequently, the orchestra was led by conductors Akira Endo ( 1980 - 1982 ), Lawrence Leighton Smith ( 1983 - 1994 ), Max Bragado ( 1994 - 1998 ), Uriel Segal ( 1998 - 2004 ); in 2006 , its former leader Jorge Mester returned to the team.
