360 Extreme Explorer and its Qihoo predecessors browser
360 Extreme Explorer is a modern, western-oriented version of the 360 Browser browser [1] , the development of the international version of which was discontinued in October 2014 [2] . For the first time, under the name 360 Secure Browser (at various times it was called the 360 Browser , 360 Speed Browser or Safe Browser , Kit 360 安全 浏览 器 ) it was released in September 2008 [3] .
In January 2011, according to the firm Qihoo, this browser was already the second most popular web browser in China (after Internet Explorer) with 172 million active users who have it installed as the main one. Independent sources do not confirm these data and claim that the maximum result was achieved later, when the real number of users in the country was 6.61% in 2013 and it became the third most popular in China [4] . Its main competitors in China are Sogou Browser , QQ Browser ( kit. QQ 浏览 器 ) from Tencent , Baidu Browser ( kit. 百度 浏览 器 ) [5] and Maxthon .
For a long time, the browser existed only in Chinese, but in early 2014, the company released the international version of its web browser 360 Secure Browser . The browser was designed for a long time only for Windows , other operating systems were not supported [6] .
