Reach Out I'll Be There

“ Reach Out I'll Be There ” is a song by the American male vocal group Four Tops . Released in the United States as a single on August 18, 1966. The song was written and produced was the author and producer trio Holland — Dozier — Holland ^[3] .

In the United States, the song spent two weeks in 1st place on the rhythm and blues chart of Billboard ^[4] and in its main chart, Billboard Hot 100, also two weeks in 1st place ^[5] .

In the UK, the song also rose to 1 place (in the UK Singles Chart ), becoming the second song in the history of the Motown label , which succeeded (the first in the second half of 1964 was the song “ Baby Love ” by the girl group The Supremes ) ^[6] .

In 2004, Rolling Stone magazine placed the song “Reach Out, I'll Be There” by The Four Tops on the 206th position on its list of “ 500 Greatest Songs of All Time ” ^[7] . In the 2011 list, the song is on the 20th place ^[8] .

The British music magazine New Musical Express also included it in its (published in 2014) list of “ 500 Greatest Songs of All Time ”, at number 274 ^{[9] [10]} .

In addition, the song “Reach Out I'll Be There,” along with another song by The Four Tops, “ Baby I Need Your Loving, ” is part of the 500 Songs That Shaped Rock list compiled by the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Roll ^[11] .

In 1998, the Four Tops single with the song (released in 1966 via Motown ) was admitted to the Grammy Awards Hall of Fame ^[12] .
