Biography

Born May 17, 1940 in a family of peasants. In 1968 he graduated from the Law Faculty of the Belarusian State University with a degree in jurisprudence .

After graduation, he worked as a lawyer at a legal consultation in the village of Beshenkovichi, Vitebsk region .

Since 1970, he worked in various positions in the prosecutor's office of the Minsk region .

Since 1976, he was an investigator for particularly important cases under the prosecutor of the Byelorussian SSR . He investigated a number of complex criminal cases: the death of the First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Belarus P. M. Masherov in 1980 ; the murders of a fish protection inspector, an investigator of the prosecutor’s office and two police officers in the city of Mozyr in 1981 - 1983 (“Mozyr case”); a series of murders of women in the Vitebsk region in 1971 - 1985 (maniac Gennady Mikhasevich ).

In 1989 , with the support of the public movement Belorussian Popular Front "Renaissance" and workers' unions, he was elected People's Deputy of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR , since 1990 he headed the Commission on Privileges and Benefits.

On October 15, 1991, by a resolution of the Supreme Council of the Republic of Belarus, he was appointed Prosecutor General of Belarus [1] .

He died on December 5, 1992 from stomach cancer . The civil funeral was attended by First Deputy Prosecutor General of Belarus Vladimir Kondratiev, Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Council of the Republic of Belarus V. I. Sholodonov , deputies of the Supreme Council of the Republic. He was buried on December 7 at the Eastern cemetery of Minsk [2] .
