Biography
The daughter of a British scientist of Jewish-Polish descent Jacob Bronowski .
She graduated from Cambridge (1966), where she first studied mathematics, and in the last year of study switched to English. She received a Ph.D. in 1973. The following year a book was published based on her doctoral work.
She became the first female employee of the Cambridge College of Jesus (1976-89). For this, the college needed to change its charter.
In 1990—2011. Professor of Queen Mary University of London . Since 2012, professor at University College London , also director of CHIRP.
She performed in the media, on television and radio. Collaborated with Anthony Grafton . It was a polyglot.
She was an honorary member of two Cambridge colleges (Kings and Jesus). Marked by (2012). Honorary Doctor (DLitt), University of St Andrews (2007). Also an honorary doctor of high-boots Sheffield Hallam, Aberdeen and Open. CBE (2005).
The author of 17 books and more than 50 scientific articles.
The first time she married in 1969, divorced in 1979, two children. In the second marriage, a son appeared.
