Journal History

The journal has been published since 2003, when, with the aim of popularizing regional historical science and publishing materials on local history, the Scientific Council of the Research Institute under the Government of the Republic of Mordovia decided to publish the scientific and journalistic almanac “Center and Peripherals” (published once a year). In 2004 - 2005, due to financial difficulties, the almanac was not published. In 2006, “Center and Peripherals” resumed its activity with the status of inter-regional (the editorial board included leaders and leading experts of Volga scientific institutions and universities ), and in 2007 the next issue of the journal was published. A new stage of development is associated with the entry into the composition of the founders of the Institute of Russian History of the Russian Academy of Sciences; in 2007, an agreement was signed on the joint publication of an almanac between the Institute of Russian Academy of Sciences and NIIGN under the Government of the Republic of Mordovia as a founder with editorial status.
