Born March 27, 1959 in the Greek village of Santa in the Georgian SSR .

He graduated from school in the Rostov region . After school, he served in the Soviet army [1] . He graduated from the Faculty of Logistics of the Rostov Institute of National Economy . Has a Ph.D. in Economics [2] .

In 1980, he came to work at the Don State Tobacco Factory as a transporter. At 23, Ivan Savvidi became the foreman of the locksmith's workshop, and after that he was promoted to deputy director. In 1993, he was elected Director General of Donskoy Tobacco Company [1] .

In March 1997, he was appointed a member of the Council; in April 1997, he was appointed Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Rostov Commercial Bank for Social Development (Rostsotsbank) [3] .

In August 2000, Ivan Savvidi established the I. I. Savvidi Charity Fund. The fund aims to support the traditional religious communities of Russia, the development of education, science and sports [1] .

In 2003 and 2007, Savvidi was elected to the State Duma [4] .

In August 2004, Ivan Savvidi founded the management company AGROKOM Group [5] .

From July 2002 to July 2005 he was president of FC Rostov [1] .

Since January 2006, he has been president of the SKA football club (Rostov-on-Don) [1] .

Since June 2004, Savvidi is the president of the Association of Greek Public Associations of Russia (AGOOR). He is also a public figure in the community of Pontic Greeks of the CIS countries . Since 2007, on his initiative and support, annual pilgrimages to the monastery of Panagia Sumela in Trabzon have become possible.

At the Local Council of the Russian Orthodox Church in 2009, he was the representative of the Rostov diocese from the laity .

In 2012, he acquired a controlling stake in the Greek football club PAOK [6] . In March 2018, Ivan Savvidi ran out on a football field with a pistol, which is why he was banned from attending Greek Championship football matches for three years [7] , but he has the opportunity to attend PAOK matches in European competitions.
