Priestess (tributary of Cap)

The priest is a river in the Kirov region of Russia , the left tributary of Cheptsa ( Volga basin). It flows in the Uninsky and Falensky districts . The mouth of the river is located 188 km along the left bank of Cheptsa . The length of the river is 141 km, the basin area is 1270 km².

The source of the river on the Krasnogorsk Upland is 5 km west of the village of Mamonovo ( Kanakhinsky rural settlement , Uninsky district ), 12 km south-east of the village of Uni and 10 km west of the border with Udmurtia . Near the source of the Priest is the source of the Chushkets River, here passes the watershed of the Kilmesi and Cheptsa basins .

The general direction of the current is north. The upper course passes through the Uninsky district, the middle and lower - along the Falensky. The course passes through hilly areas, the channel is very winding, in the channel there are rocky rifts and sills. The river is blocked by several dilapidated dams of inactive hydroelectric power stations [2] . The width of the river in the lower reaches is about 40 meters, with an average flow of 20-30 meters.

On the banks of the river there are a number of settlements, the largest of them: Sosnovka (Uninsky district); Nagorskoye , Belaya , Vogultsy , Naberezhny , Ilyinskoye , Moshni ( Falensky district). In the lower reaches, the river flows 3 km from the district center, the village of Falenki .

It flows into Cheptsu, 7 km north-east of the center of the village of Falenki , 5 km from the border with Udmurtia. In the lower reaches forms backwaters and elders .
