David Snellgrove ( born David Llewellyn Snellgrove ; June 29, 1920 , UK - March 25, 2016 , Italy ) is a British Tibetologist. The author of many works. Emerit professor at the University of London . Member of the British Academy (1969).

Biography
Born in the family of an officer, had older brothers and sister.
He studied at the University of Southampton.
During the war years he served in the army, from 1941, was discharged in 1946. In 1946-1950 he studied at Queens College of Cambridge University . Then, in 1950-1982, he taught at the School of Oriental and African Studies at the University of London, since 1978 a professor, since 1982, a retired emérer .
He studied under Tucci, Giuseppe .
He was not married.
His ashes were buried in Cambodia.
