“ Songs of the Common Man ” is a tribute album dedicated to the sixtieth birthday of Mike Naumenko , released in 2016. The recording was attended by many famous figures of the Russian rock scene . The album received good reviews from critics.

Release Preparation and Release
Information that it is planned to release a tribute album for the sixtieth birthday of Mike Naumenko first appeared at the end of 2014 [2] . According to Yevgeny Naumenko, Mike’s son, the first collector and producer Yevgeny Gapeev proposed the idea of releasing a CD with the best cover versions of Mike’s songs, but later it was decided to record new ones [3] [4] . It was reported that such recordings as “ Aquarium ”, Zorge , “ NAIV ” and others will take part in the recording. In addition, the creators invited everyone to send them their covers, the best of which can be included in the album, and will also be posted on the site dedicated to the tribute. On the Planeta.ru platform, a project was launched to raise funds for the release of the album [2] . To the musicians, whose participation in the tribute has already been confirmed, at the beginning of 2015 Chayf , Secret , Bravo , Andrei Makarevich , Animal Jaz , Kukryniksy , Vasya Vasin and others were added [5] .
On February 20, 2016, the InterMedia portal announced that the release of the tribute was in question. For almost three months that the action lasted, it was not possible to collect the required half of the declared 600 thousand rubles, which, according to the rules of the Planeta.ru project, means canceling purchases and returning money to customers [6] . However, 300 thousand were collected before the end of the action, which allowed to extend the fundraising period and consider the project successful [7] [8] . In total, more than 420 thousand rubles were collected to record the album [9] .
The digital release took place on April 18, 2016, on the sixty-first anniversary of Mike Naumenko [10] [11] . The digital version of the album was sent to the shareholders of Planeta.ru [9] .
Criticism
The album was highly appreciated by music observer of the InterMedia portal Alexey Mazhaev . According to him, it is clear that the musicians did not remain indifferent to the idea of recording a tribute, and therefore almost all cover versions are interesting in their own way. He calls “County Town N” the most successful song, in which actors, musicians and other “media” personalities took part [1] . Boris Barabanov , a columnist for the Kommersant newspaper, on the contrary, considers this song to be almost the only serious drawback of the album [12] .
According to Boris Barabanov, the main achievement of the tribute is the recording of Mike's songs in good quality, which makes them suitable for radio broadcasting [12] . Aleksey Mazhaev notes that despite the fact that it is unknown, Mike Naumenko would have been as popular and successful in 2016, as in his time, “his songs look good in new arrangements and in other people's performance” [1] .
