Their legendary ancestor, Vasily Koznakovich, according to a pedigree tale, left the Golden Horde in the 15th century . Mikhail Koznakov (1540) owned estates in the Tver district . Oprichniki Ivan the Terrible (1573) were: Ermola Ivanovich, Peter and Filimon Mikhailovich Kaznakova [1] . Roman Koznakov was taken prisoner in Poland, from where he was traded (1585) [2] . Mikhail Ermolaevich for the Moscow siege seat was granted a patrimony ( 1610 ), died in the service against the Poles near Smolensk (1634). Yakov Yakovlevich participant in the siege of Smolensk (1634).

The genus is included in the Velvet Book and the VI part of the genealogy books of the Tver and Yaroslavl provinces of the Russian Empire ( Herbovnik , I, 69) [3] [4] . When submitting documents (1686) for introducing the genus into the Velvet Book , the Koznakovs' genealogy , loan bondage (1515), letters of deed and legal letters (1517-1530), two royal patrimonial letters of honor (1623) to the village of Valuytsi Bolshoi and the village of Syropyatoe in Ivory volost and the villages of Volyntsevo, Popovo, Zolino, Sreznevo, Morozovo, Skrypovo with the villages of Katerinino on the Shostka river in the Kholokholensky volost of the Staritsky district [5] .

Many Kaznakovs served as stewards , solicitors and nobles of Moscow.

In the shield , which has a blue field, you can see a stone fortress marked with silver, at the gates of which a Warrior with a sword is placed, and over the fortress a golden crescent with its horns facing up.

The shield is crowned with an ordinary noble helmet with a noble crown on it and three ostrich feathers. Bast on a shield of blue and red color, lined with gold and silver.
