Zhukov Ostrov ( Ukrainian: Zhukiv Ostrov ) is a local landscape reserve located on the territory of the Goloseevsky district of the Kiev City Council ( Ukraine ). The area is 123.4 ha [1] , according to other sources 196 ha and 361 ha. Land user - Goloseevskaya district administration.

Content
History
Zhukov Island Sanctuary was created by the decision of the Kiev City Council on December 2, 1999 No. 147/649 with a total area of 1,630 hectares (completely Zhukov Island). The conservation facility was established with the aim of preserving valuable natural communities. Any economic activity, including those leading to damage to natural complexes, is prohibited on the territory of the reserve.
By a number of decisions of the Kiev City Council, the area of the reserve was reduced by 9 times. A 265-hectare site became part of the Goloseevsky Regional Landscape Park , according to the Decision of the Kiev City Council of December 23, 2003 No. 334/1209 (“On the construction of the first plot of the Golosіev” landscape park). By the decision of the Kiev City Council of December 23, 2004, No. 878/2288, the Dnieper Islands regional landscape park was created, which partially included Zhukov Island (a plot of 70.01 hectares) as one of the stationary recreation zones and economic zones [2] . By the decision of the Kiev City Council on March 9, 2006, the creation of the Goloseevsky NPP was approved by reorganizing the Goloseevsky regional landscape park , without including the lands of the Zhukov Island reserve. According to the General Plan of Kiev until 2025, it is planned to include the reserve in the Goloseevsky National Natural Park .
Description
The reserve is located between the historic Chapaevka area, Pirogovo industrial zone and the junction of Akademik Zabolotny and Stolichnoye Highways in the west and Vodnikov Island in the east. The nature conservation facility occupies quarters 30-33 of the Goloseevskoye lesnichestvoː the northern part of the island of the same name from the group of the Dnieper Islands , which is between the Dnieper River , its canal (old woman) Konik and the Vita River. To the south adjoins the reserve of the Cossack and Holguin Islands , to the east is a section of the Dnieper Islands regional landscape park, to the west is the Bychok tract (part of the Goloseevsky National Natural Park ).

Nature
The landscape of the reserve is represented by dominant meadows, as well as forests, swamps, aquatic vegetation of many channels and lakes.
Meadow vegetation is represented by real ( meadow fescue and red , thin-legged meadow , giant field mice ) and swamp ( sharp sedge , high mannitol ) meadows. There are medicinal plant species, the red ones - floating water chestnuts and floating salvins , rare ones - yellow egg capsule , white water lily and snow-white water lily . Due to decorative purposes, the population of the Siberian Iris is destroyed by visitors to the reserve. Swamp vegetation is negligible in the reserve and is represented by sedge sharp and foxes . Forest vegetation is represented by floodplain oak forests with oak light forests ( black poplar and smooth elm ). Aquatic vegetation is represented by the communities of aquatic rizak Aloid-shaped and Canadian Elodea , coastal-aquatic - large mannik.
Among mammals, the fauna of the reserve is represented by such species as otter , ermine , elk , wild boar , roe deer , brown hare , squirrel , beaver , muskrat , fox , raccoon dog , weasel , American mink , marten , hedgehog , bats and rodents. In the reserve there are many birds, insects, reptiles, amphibians. In the waters of the reserve there are 25 species of fish ( catfish , bream , pike , pike perch ). Numerous channels are the site of spawning grounds.
