Meloni, Roberto

The early years

Roberto Meloni was born on December 6, 1977 in the city of Ardara on the Italian island of Sardinia. Fifth child in the family: three sisters and one brother. He studied at a school in Otsieri , graduated from the University of Sassari with honors with a degree in foreign languages ​​and literature, and then won a scholarship and the right to travel to Riga, Latvia, where he later settled.

Musical career

He has been making music since he was 4 years old, participating in several concerts, including the Una Voce festival in San Remo in 1995. In 2004, he took part in the Latvian reality show Talantu Fabrika (an analogue of the "Star Factory") and reached the finals, gaining popularity as the only foreign participant in this show. In May of the same year, he created a duet with Elizabeth Zagorskaya, but their first album, Viva el Amor, was released only 4 years later, in March 2008.

In 2011, Meloni gave a number of concerts in Ukraine. From August to October 2011, Meloni was in Sardinia, where he shot two video clips for his songs “The love is a tango” and “I love you lady”, which became popular in Latvia. In the same year he was awarded the honorary award of Sardinia “Navicello d'argento”, awarded to the inhabitants of Sardinia for the glorification of his island ^[1] .

In 2012, he recorded the song “Paslepes” with singer Jenny May, making a video clip. Roberto Meloni is currently one of the participants in the Lithuanian show “The Voice”. In his own words, he dreams of appearing in the Russian show " Voice ".

Eurovision

In 2007, Roberto Meloni as part of the group of tenors Bonaparti.lv goes to Eurovision in Finland . The group performed the song " Questa Notte ", which took 16th place (54 points).

In 2008, Roberto again went to Eurovision , but already as a member of the Pirates of the Sea group, which also included dancer Alexandra Kurusova (winner of the Latvian show "Dancing with the Stars" and TV presenter Janis Vaishlya. Group with the song " Wolfes of the Sea "became the 12th in the competition with 83 points, and the BBC called the costumes of the band members the most stylish in the competition. The song became a hit in Denmark and Germany. In July of that year, Pirates of the Sea performed at Slavic bazaar in Vitebsk .

In 2009, Roberto Meloni announced the votes of Latvia at Eurovision 2009 ^[2] . In the final of the Eurovision 2009 Eurovision selection, his band Pirates of the Sea performed an English cover version of the song “ Moskau ” by the band “ Dschinghis Khan ” ^[3] .

Cinema and Theater

Meloni plays in the Latvian theater: for example, he starred in the musicals West Side Story , Les Miserables and Robinson Crusoe . In May 2009, the comedy “Ladies' Night” was staged on the Latvian stage (it was also staged in Russian under the name “Striptease Eagles”), which was also successful in neighboring Lithuania.

Roberto Meloni voiced the sea lion Stefano for the Latvian version of the cartoon " Madagascar 3 ".

Television

In 2007, Roberto took part in the Latvian version of the show "Dancing with the Stars" (his partner was the dancer Laura Kosite), leaving the project sixth, and also appeared on the television show Sapni Piepildas . Personal life

Roberto is single, although he dreams of marrying a Latvian, Russian, Ukrainian, or Italian ^[5] . In addition to native Italian, he knows Latvian, English and a little Russian, currently studying Lithuanian.
