Career
Pupil of the youth team Honeybaked . In 2008-2010, he was a member of the US Junior Hockey Development Program. In 2010, he played at the junior world championships , where the US team won gold medals; Rast scored 6 points (4 + 2) on Belarusian ice in 7 matches. In the same year, it was drafted by Pittsburgh at number 80. In 2010-2014, Brian played for the Notre Dame Fighting Irish ( en: Notre Dame Fighting Irish men's ice hockey - a team representing the University of Notre Dame ) at the NCAA ; graduated in finance. Winner of the 2013 playoffs.
April 1, 2014 signed a two-year primary contract with Pittsburgh [1] . At the end of the 2013/14 season, he played three games (including the playoffs) for the Pittsburgh Farm Club - Wilkes-Barre / Scranton Penguins - in the AHL .
In the 2014/15 season, he played mainly in the AHL. The debut match in the NHL is December 13, 2014 against Columbus , the first goal in the NHL is December 15, 2014 against Tampa .
May 26, 2016, in the seventh match of the Eastern Conference finals against Tampa, Rast scored two goals, bringing the “ penguins ” victory (2: 1) and reaching the Stanley Cup finals. [2] Having scored a goal in the first match of the Stanley Cup final , Brian Rast set a new club record for the number of goals in the playoffs among newcomers - 6. [3]

Brian's older brother, Matt (born 1989), is a former hockey player. Matt played for the junior and youth national team of the USA, in the NCAA, AHL and ECHL; silver medalist of UChM-2007 , in 2012 completed his playing career.
