Caetan ( Gaetan ) Tiensky ( Italian: Gaetano Thiene , 1480 - 1547 ) is a Catholic saint . Memory is celebrated on August 7th . Together with the Bishop Caraffa, he founded the Order of the Theaterians . Canonized in the XVII century . It is considered the patron of women in labor.

Biography
Born in October 1480 in Vicenza , came from a princely family. His father was Gaspard, he was the heir of Tyena, his mother was from the nobles of Vicenza. Orphaned at the age of two, his mother raised him in strict religiosity [1] . He graduated from the University of Padua , in 1504 received a doctorate in civil and canon law. In 1508 he was appointed by the notary of the Pope. In 1516 he was ordained priest, in the same year he joined the “Oratory of Divine Love” at the church of Sts. Dorofei in Rome. In 1520, at the request of the sick mother, he returned to his homeland, engaged in charity and helping the sick. In 1523, in Rome, he became acquainted with Cardinal Giovanni Caraffa and together with him founded the Order of Regular Clerics, called the Caetans or the Theatineians, after the Italian or Latin naming of Kyeta . The statute was drawn up on the basis of the Augustinian and approved in 1524 by Pope Clement VII . In 1527 the monastery of theaters was destroyed by the troops of Charles V. Caetan, after a brief arrest, left for Venice, where he served as a priest, and in the same year he was elected General Superior of the Order, having spent three years in this post. In Venice, he created a charity fund to help the poor; in 1530, he helped the victims of the plague epidemic. Between 1533 and 1543 he headed the newly created Theatrical monasteries in Venice and Naples. August 7, 1547 died during the civil unrest in Naples, trying to stop the bloodshed. Of the writings of Caetan, only correspondence with the Augustinian nun Laura Mignani and Cardinal Caraffa [2] is preserved.
Canonization
Beatified in 1629 by Pope Urban VIII , canonized by Clement X in 1671; This pontiff actively contributed to the veneration of St.. Caetana. The relics are in the church of San Paolo Maggiore in Naples. In the iconography depicted in the attire of the theater, holding in the hands of the Gospel. Attributes - rosary, lily, bird. From the 17th century, he was also depicted with the Baby Jesus in her arms, as he had a vision of the Virgin, who entrusted the Infant to him. This episode was depicted by Bernini in the sculptural group at Santa Maria Maggiore in Rome [3] .
