Shelf History

The 428th Air Defense Fighter Aviation Regiment was formed on July 25, 1941 in the 7th Air Defense Fighter Corps at the Gorelovo Airport ( Leningrad ) in the state 015/134 on MiG-3 aircraft based on the flight crew of the 7th Fighter Aviation Regiment , which until the outbreak of war arrived in Gorelovo for retraining on new aircraft. The regiment began combat work on July 25, 1941 as part of the 7th air defense aircraft on MiG-3 aircraft.

The regiment provided cover for the city of Leningrad and military installations from the air, in addition to air defense tasks, it flew out to cover ground troops and attack the enemy troops, acting in the interests of the command of the Leningrad and then the Northern (from 23.08.1941) front. Having suffered significant losses, the regiment on September 12, 1941, arrived at reorganization and staffing at the 1st Higher School of Navigators of the Air Force of the spacecraft at the airfield of Diaghilev ( Ryazan ) of the Moscow Military District. It was reorganized by state 015/174.

He began combat operations on October 13, 1941 as part of the 6th air defense fighter corps of the Moscow air defense zone . He provided cover for the city and military installations of Moscow from the air, in addition to performing air defense tasks, he flew out to cover his troops and attack the enemy troops, acting in the interests of the command of ground fronts.

On March 29, 1942, the regiment was transferred from the air defense forces of the vehicle to the air force of the spacecraft, was named the 428th fighter aviation regiment and began combat work as part of the 2nd strike aviation group of the air forces of the North-Western Front. April 20, 1942 in front-line conditions mastered the Yak-1 aircraft. By the end of June 11, there was only 1 faulty MiG-3 in combat; on June 14, it left for the rear to be equipped in the 8th reserve fighter aviation regiment of the Volga Military District in the village. Bagai-Baranovka, Saratov region. On August 25, 1942, the regiment was disbanded.
