History

The technical project was prepared by the Rostov branch of the Gipropischeprom-3 institute [3] . The first phase of the Shakhtinsky plant of synthetic detergents of the State Agro-Industrial Complex of the Kazakh SSR - a building for the production of laundry detergent and liquid detergents with an annual capacity of 30 thousand and 4 thousand tons, respectively, was introduced in 1974 [1] . In addition, an administrative complex and a drainage station were built [1] . By commissioning the soap box with a capacity of 9 thousand tons of toilet soap in 1975, the construction of the second stage of the plant was completed [1] , which allowed Tentekskaya CHPP of Shakhtinsk to be converted into a year-round operation, which provided the plant with technological steam. The appearance of the plant also partially solved the problem of women's employment in Shakhtinsk [4] , which was relevant for many mining towns [2] .

During Soviet times, the Shakhty synthetic detergent plant was one of the largest chemical enterprises in the Karaganda region [5] and one of the largest enterprises of the Ministry of Food Industry of the Kazakh SSR [3] .

After the collapse of the USSR , like many enterprises in the post-Soviet space , the plant experienced the problems of transition to a market economy . In 1992, the modernization of the enterprise began, stopped in 1993 due to lack of funds [3] . In 1995, the Shakhty plant of synthetic detergents was stopped and mothballed. In 1997, the plant was bought out by the English company “Moneta Dethergens Ltd” ( Moneta Detergents Ltd ) [3] [6] . The British invested in the reconstruction and modernization of the enterprise, as a result of which the production capacity of the plant increased from 30 to 60 thousand tons of laundry detergent per year [3] . Since 2001, the company Moneta Dietrens LLP, with a staff of 272 people, has resumed production, the production of a new brand of Vesta laundry detergent [2] [6] has been started.

In 2003, the company took out a loan from Nauryz Bank Kazakhstan JSC, which after some time was declared bankrupt. The plant was pledged to the liquidation commission of the bank. Since 2004, due to a shortage of working capital, the enterprise has been idle [2] .

Activity

The plant's capacity is 60 thousand tons of laundry detergent per year, while the total Kazakhstan market demand for synthetic detergents is about 100 thousand tons [6] . According to others, the company can cover more than 45% [2] and 50% [7] of the country's market.

Enterprises produced synthetic powder brands “Lotos”, “Crystal”, “Whirlwind” and “Aina”, toilet soap of three groups, liquid synthetic products of the brands “Alfiya” and “Extra”, shampoos “Alyonushka”, “Ivushka”, “Lada” and Dione, as well as crude glycerin [1] .
