Content

Range

New Guinea , as well as the islands of Mysol, Halmahera (Moluccas) and Japan [1] .

Description

The length of the narrow body is about 1 cm (from 6.8 to 17.5 mm). Antennae 11-segmented, long, exceed half the length of the elytra. The mandibular palps are 4-segmented, the labium consists of 2 segments. Coloring is various: yellow, brown, black. The pronotum is trapezoid. Elytra 3-4 times as long as wide. Beetles Eniclases are similar to the genus Trichalus Waterhouse, 1877 in shape (dorso-ventrally flattened body) and average size; differ in pronotum shape with sharply protruding posterior angles and tubercle in the posterior third of the pronotal margin nine wrinkles-ribs on the humeral part of the elytra (4 large primary and 5 weak secondary ribs); two diverging keels on pronotum . The structure of the genitals (domed apex of the phallus) is similar to the genus Schizotrichalus Kleine, 1926 [1] [2] .

Systematics

About 30 species. The genus Eniclases Waterhouse, 1879 was first isolated in 1879 by the English entomologist Charles Owen Waterhouse ( Charles Owen Waterhouse , 1843-1917). In 2016, Czech entomologists Matej Bocek and Ladislav Bocak ( University of Palacky , Olomouc , Czech Republic ) conducted an audit of the group, during which new species were described [1] [2] . The pronotum form, the shortened first ribs of the elytra, and the genital structure of the taxa Eniclases phylogenetically bring together with other genera of the clades Trichalinina : Eniclases , Flabellotrichalus Pic, 1921 , Microtrichalus Pic, 1921 , Schizotrichalus Kleine, 1926 , 1826, Trichalusus . This generic group is currently included in the subtribe Metriorrhynchina from the subfamily Metriorrhynchinae (Bocak 2002, Sklenarova et al. 2014) [3] [4] .
