History
Until 2015, the city of Saint-Étienne-du-Rouvray was part of the canton.
As a result of the reform of 2015 [1], the composition of the canton was changed. It included the city of Ouille , and part of the city of Saint-Étienne-du-Rouvray was incorporated into the canton of Sotteville-le-Rouen .

Policy
In the presidential election of 2017, the inhabitants of the canton gave in the 1st round to Jean-Luc Melenchon 35.8% of the vote against 22.9% for Marine Le Pen , 18.1% for Emmanuel Macron and 9.0% for Francois Fillon ; in the 2nd round, the canton was defeated by Macron, who received 63.6% of the vote. (2012 Round 1: Francois Hollande - 34.9%, Marine Le Pen - 17.0%, Nicolas Sarkozy - 14.8%; Round 2: Hollande - 68.8%. 2007 Round 1: Segolene Royal - 33.9%, Sarkozy - 19.9%; Round 2: Royal - 62.6%).
Since 2015, the canton in the Council of the Seaside Seine Department is represented by Severin Bot (Séverine Botte) and the mayor of the city Ouzele Stephan Barre (Stéphane Barré) (both are the Communist Party ). The mayor of Saint-Étienne-du-Rouvray, Hubert Wulfranc, who won the elections in 2015 together with Bot, resigned on July 6, 2017 after being elected a deputy to the National Assembly of France in the 3rd electoral district of the Maritime Seine department .
