Content
Construction
The mosque was built on the initiative of the Head of the Republic of Dagestan Ramazan Abdulatipov , according to the idea of which an Orthodox church and a mosque were built on both sides of the Government building [2] .
Construction began in 2015. The mosque was completed and consecrated in May 2016. Construction money was donated by the Head of the Republic and the Mufti of Dagestan.
The mosque was built in the so-called Dagestan style, and it is possible to distinguish it from the temple located nearby only by a crescent.
Features
A two-story square construction without a minaret, built of Derbent brick material. It has a basement. On the ground floor is a dome, 7 meters high. Both floors are for a man’s chapel. The height of the dome is 10 meters, with a diameter of 8 meters. The roof is painted blue. The total area of the structure is 100 m². The capacity of the basement and ground floor reaches up to 150 parishioners. On the ground floor, the patterns in the interiors of the mosque are made in accordance with the traditions of the school of Russian Muslims. Inside, the dome, ceilings and walls are painted with gilded painting of verses (texts) from the Koran . The mosque is lit by wall lamps.
Opening
The grand opening was held on May 28, 2016 , in a festive atmosphere with the presence of the Head of the Republic Ramazan Abdulatipov , envoy of the President of the Russian Federation in the North Caucasus Federal District Sergey Melikov , Mufti RD Akhmad Abdulaev , mayor of Makhchkala Musa Musaev , representatives of the Makhachkala diocese and the Jewish community of the republic [3] .
