Rosettes are relatively small, few-leaved, loose, 30-50 Γ 40-60 cm. Leaves 25-50 cm long and 2.5-4 cm wide, narrow-lanceolate, ascending to erect, concave on top, convex below, stiff. The edge of the leaf is light brown or gray, spines along the edge are 2-5 mm long, brown or light gray, 8-20 on each side. The spike at the end of the leaf is stiff, conical or awl-shaped, grayish, 1.5-4 cm long.
Peduncle 2.5-3.5 m tall, bluish, two flowers collected on short (sometimes long - up to 15 cm) pedicels. Flowers 3-4.5 cm long, yellow or reddish. Perianth tube 2.5-4 mm long, perianth lobes linear, 13-20 mm long, approximately equal in length. Stamens 25β40 mm long, anthers 15β20 mm.
Fruits - capsules 18-25 Γ 11-18 mm, oblong or pear-shaped, bluish. Seeds 4.5-6 Γ 3.5-4.5 mm.
Distributed from the south of New Mexico and West Texas to Central Mexico ( Hidalgo ), it is found in limestone deserts.
Presumably the most abundant agave species in nature, one of the most common plants in West Texas.
