Biography
He was born on April 7 ( 20 ), 1912 in the village of Orekhovo (now in the Kastorensky district of the Kursk region).
In 1937 he graduated from the Dnepropetrovsk Mining Institute , for 16 years he worked in industrial geological institutions. In 1939-1941 he worked in the Krivbassgeologiya trust, in 1941-1944 - in geological organizations of the Kemerovo region. In 1944-1946 he was the chief geologist of the Kryvyi Rih Geological Trust. In 1946-1953 - chief geologist of the Kirov expedition of the USSR Mingeology.
Since 1952 - Doctor of Geological and Mineralogical Sciences.
In 1953-1968 - professor at the University of Kiev , head of the department at the Institute of Geological Sciences of the Academy of Sciences of the Ukrainian SSR. Since 1969 - at the Institute of Geochemistry and Physics of Minerals, Academy of Sciences of the Ukrainian SSR.
Since 1961, he was the chief editor of the Geological Journal of the Ukrainian Academy of Sciences.
He died on August 29, 1994 in Kiev.
Scientific activity
The main works are devoted to the geology and genesis of iron ores in the Krivorozhsky iron ore basin , issues of exploration of ore deposits of Precambrian age, the general metallogeny of Precambrian. He developed the basics of metamorphic formation of ore deposits and the theory of ore formation.
The leader and participant in the mapping of the metal content of the territory of the Ukrainian SSR. Conducted geological mapping of the Kryvyi Rih iron ore basin.
Belevtsev published 54 works, including 4 monographs.
