Biography
He was born on April 20, 1900 in the village of Salomirka (now Porik ) in the Khmelnik district of the Vinnitsa region in a peasant family. Ukrainian. He received his primary education, then worked at a local collective farm. In 1938-1940 he served in the Red Army . At the front of World War II from March 1944. He participated in battles on the 1st Ukrainian Front, and was wounded on July 3. During the offensive in the area of Zisartowka (10 km north-east of the city of Rzeszow, Poland), he destroyed more than 10 Nazis and put down the fire of 2 machine guns. By order of the 112th Infantry Division of August 6, 1944, Private Yakov Lukyanovich Gladky was awarded the Order of Glory of the 3rd degree.
On January 20 of the following year, his battalion was encircled near the village of Osyakow (38 km southeast of the town of Zlochiv, Poland). Machine-gun fire supported the defending units and destroyed more than 10 enemy soldiers. By order of the 112th Infantry Division of January 23, 1945, Yakov Lukyanovich Gladky was awarded the Order of Glory of the 3rd degree for the second time.
On January 27, near the village of Lampersdorf (16 km southeast of the city of Luben, Poland), he was one of the first to cross the Oder River and gain a foothold on the opposite bank. Reflecting the enemy’s attacks with machine gun fire, he destroyed several dozen enemy soldiers and officers, which made it possible to maintain and expand his position. By order of the 13th Army on February 1, 1945, Junior Sergeant Gladky Yakov Lukyanovich was awarded the Order of Glory of the 2nd degree.
After demobilization, he returned to his native village, worked on a collective farm.
By an order of the Presidium of the Supreme Council of the USSR of February 27, 1952, the Order of Glory of the 1st degree (by order of January 23, 1945) was re-awarded instead of the Order of Glory of the 3rd degree.
