TV ratings
The pilot episode of “Hopes of Chicago” was broadcast on Saturday evening at 20.00, the day before the pilot of the show “ Ambulance ”, which aired the competitor channel ( NBC ) [6] . After the first week, two medical dramas , the plot of which takes place in Chicago , began to go in prime time - on Thursday at 22.00. The ambulance won the race - its ratings were higher [7] . Because of this, despite the positive reviews from critics, “Chicago Hope” was postponed until 21.00, and after some time the series began to be broadcast on Mondays.
Such a rearrangement benefited the series, and its rating rose from 11.9 and peaked at 20 points. However, in season two, David Edward Kelly and Mandy Patinkin [8] decided to leave the series. In 1997, the Chicago Hopes broadcast was moved to Wednesday at 10 p.m. to make way for Stephen Bochko ’s South Brooklyn drama. In 1999, Mandy Patinkin and David Edward Kelly returned to the series, joining the newcomers - Barbara Hershey and Lauren Holly . But by then, Christine Lahti , Jane Brook , Peter Berg , Wondi Curtis Hall and Stacy Edwards had already left. CBS also returned the show on Thursday, entering a competitive race with NBC 's Fraser and ABC 's Who Does It Want to Be a Millionaire? ". In May 2000, after six seasons on the air, the series “Chicago Hope” was closed [9] .
In 2007, former Chicago Hope stars Mark Harmon , Rocky Carroll, and Lauren Holly began working together on the series Marine Police: Special Forces . The guest role in the series was played by Jane Brook . Thomas Gibson , Mandy Patinkin and Shemar Moore (who played a guest role in "Hope Chicago") reunited on the set of the television series Think Like a Criminal .
