History
Makhachkala City Children's Library was founded in 1968 and officially opened in 1971 . Famous children's writers from Moscow , Kabardino-Balkaria , Tatarstan , Tajikistan , Moldova and Bulgaria were invited to the grand opening. In a festive atmosphere, the famous children’s writers Agniya Barto and Maria Prilezhaeva were honored to cut the red ribbon [1] .
The library fund includes new newspapers and magazines, popular science literature, works of domestic and foreign fiction, books to help education, video cassettes with animated and popular science films, audio tapes, sets of transparencies, slides, phonograph records, sets of postcards, posters, desktop games.
The volume of the fund is over 99 thousand storage units.
The library serves over 16,000 people annually. Book issuance is more than 390 thousand copies. The number of visits over 165 thousand per year.
On February 18, 2004, by the Decree of the State Council of the Republic of Dagestan, the library was named after the Dagestan children's writer, the famous Lak writer Yusupov Nuratdin Abakarovich .
