Biography
He studied at the University of Pavia , was a student of Antonio Bordoni . For a long period, Codazzi taught first at Lodi , then at the Lyceum in Pavia . At the same time he was engaged in differential geometry .
In 1865, Delfino Codazzi was appointed professor of algebra and analytic geometry at the University of Pavia. He stayed at his post until his death in 1873.
Scientific Contribution
Best known as a rediscovery of the Peterson-Codazzi equations . He also obtained results regarding isometric lines, geodesic triangles , area-preserving mappings and stability of floating bodies.
