Thomas E. Dorsey ( eng. Thomas A. Dorsey , full name Thomas Andrew Dorsey ) is an American blues musician [5] popular in the 1920s who is considered the “father” of modern gospel music [6] . Many songs he wrote became classics of this genre. Among them are such famous ones as “ Take My Hand, Precious Lord ” and “ Peace in the Valley ” [7] .
