History
The street runs along the outer border of the medieval fortifications of Theodosia, in connection with which the original name of the street is Fortress. To date, along the street, moats of the Genoese fortress have been preserved.
At the end of the XIX - beginning of the XX century, at the beginning of the street (the corner with the modern Nazukin and Korobkov streets, in the place of the Yubileiny Park) a large area was occupied by the market.
In the mid-1890s, a new building of the Feodosia male gymnasium was erected on the square adjacent to the street.
In Soviet times, it was called Rosa Luxemburg Street.
The modern name since 2003 in honor of Vice Admiral Nikolai Sokovnin (1811-1894).
