Geography
The village is located on the right bank of the Shcheberekhi River, to the east of the administrative center of the rural settlement - the village of Molvotitsy and the P50 highway.
History
An ancient settlement of these places is evidenced by a monument of archeology located near the village - a group of hills (9 embankments) of the 8th — 10th centuries, located 0.4 km south-west of the village of Zasele [6] .
In the list of populated places of Demyansk district of Novgorod province for 1909, the village of Maloye Zasele, which was on the land of Zaselsky rural society (population - 32 people), the estate of S. Dirin - Settlement (population - 3 people) and the estate of P. Dirin - Settlement (population - 24 people), are indicated on the territory of the Molvotitsky volost , then there was a chapel in the village and there was a creamery [7] . Then, in August 1927, the villages of Bolshoy and Maloe Zasele in the Molvotitsky Village Council of the newly formed Molvotitsky District of the newly formed Novgorod District, which was renamed from the North-West to the Leningrad Region. By decision of the CEC and the Council of People's Commissars of the USSR dated July 23, 1930, the Novgorod district was abolished, and the district passed into direct subordination to the Leningrad Regional Committee. German occupation - from September 1941. Here were the battles of the Toropetsko-Kholmsk offensive operation [8] . By a decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the RSFSR of February 19, 1944, the district center of the Molvotitsky district was moved from the village of Molvotitsy to the village of Meryovo . A decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR dated July 5, 1944 established the Novgorod region and the Molvotitsky district became part of it [9] .
During the failed all-Union reform of the division into rural and industrial areas and party organizations, in accordance with the decisions of the November (1962) plenum of the Central Committee of the CPSU "on the restructuring of the party leadership of the national economy" from December 10, 1962 a large Demyansky rural region was formed, and the administrative Molvotitsky District February 1, 1963 was abolished. Molvotitsky village council then became part of the Demyansky rural region . The plenum of the Central Committee of the CPSU, which took place on November 16, 1964, restored the former principle of party leadership of the national economy, after which, by Decree of the Supreme Soviet of the RSFSR of January 12, 1965, rural areas were transformed again into administrative areas and by decision of the Novgorod Regional Executive Committee No. 6 of January 14, 1965, the Molvotitsky Village Council and village in Demyansk district . In accordance with the decision of the Novgorod Regional Executive Committee No. 706 of December 31, 1966, the Molvotitsky Village Council and a village from the Demyansky District were transferred to the newly created Maryovsky District . After the cessation of the activities of the Molvotitsky Village Council in the early 1990s [10] , the Administration of the Molvotitsky Village Council, which was abolished at the beginning of 2006 and the village Zasele, began to operate, according to the results of the municipal reform, became part of the municipal formation - the Molvotitsky rural settlement of the Marevsky municipal district ( local government ), according to the administrative-territorial structure is subordinated to the administration of the Molvotitsky rural settlement of the Marevsky district [11] .

According to the 2002 census , 37 people lived in the village of Zasele (94% Russians) [4]
Infrastructure
In the village one street - Lipovaya [5] .
There is a monument of architecture and urban planning - a manor park of the XIX century, an area of 18 hectares [6] .
